Well, the healing process for eyelid surgery are quite different for different circumstances:

  • Blurred Vision: Sometimes your vision may be blurry after surgery and it may be quite difficult to read the small print for at least 2-3 weeks after the surgery. It may be because of the presence of lubricating ointment and drops in your eyes and the secretion from your healing wounds and reduced blinking.
  • Pain: After the surgery, there may be some minor or moderate discomfort following the eyelid surgery. Most of the patients will only need Tylenol. Extra or Plain strength Tylenol are usually adequate to control postoperative pain.
  • Swelling: Swelling and bruising may take place around the eye and the operated area. The swelling should be soft to the touch. However, if the swelling is tense or firm then please contact your doctor. Gravity will somehow cause swelling and bruising to take place in the lower eyelids. It should begin to improve at around 5-7 days following surgery.
